Flash FWD

This edition of FFWD gives a glimpse of books that previously weren't announced for August (or that I'd not seen yet), and ones announced (as of time of writing) for September and beyond!

CROWDED (IMAGE) AUGUST 2018
Christopher Sebela brings us a story 10 minutes in the future where there is a crowdsourcing website for killing people.  Wait what?  Yes REAPR is a crowdfunding platform to fund assassinations because why the hell not?  So of course a seemingly normal, unassuming girl is on the cross-hair end of a million dollar campaign.  So, with her newly hired 1.4* rated (absolute worst on the body guard app Dfend) protector in tow the duo has 30 days (campaign end) to figure out what the blue hell is going on ... or die.  There's no way this isn't fun.

RIPTIDE (RED 5) AUGUST 2018
So there's a mysterious asteroid that comes closer to Earth than we'd like.  The issue?  The comet's gravitational force wreaks havoc on the sea causing it too pull back several hundred miles.  Those aboard a doomed cruise ship now find themselves in the middle of an alien landscape right here on Earth.  Stranded a hundred miles from shore on the seabed ... just what the hell are you going to do?

BLACK BADGE (BOOM!) AUGUST 2018
An elite team of top-secret Boy Scouts that the government sends out on covert missions?  All sorts of yes.  Matt Kindt brings us a haunting look at foreign policy, culture war, and isolationism through the eyes of kids that know they've got to fix the world that the adults have broken.  The Black Badges are elite, even feared by the rest of the Scouts.  They're out to do the dirty work to make things right.

WRONG EARTH (AHOY) SEPTEMBER 2018
AHOY Comics launches with a biting superhero satire! On one world, Dragonflyman and his sidekick Stinger enjoy a life of adventure. On another Earth, the Dragonfly hunts criminal parasites like a lethal exterminator. But what happens when these two heroes change places? By Tom Peyer (Captain Kid, Hourman) and Jamal Igle (Black, Supergirl)! And, a “Golden Age” Stinger solo story, by Paul Constant and Frank Cammuso! Plus: An all-new text story by comics legend Grant Morrison: “‘Hud’ Hornet’s Holiday In Hell,” illustrated by Rob Steen! All this plus a cartoon by Shannon Wheeler!

BULLY WARS (IMAGE) SEPTEMBER 2018
An all ages romp Hunger Games style that sees the world of bullying turned on its head.  Skottie Young leads the way in Rottenville, where the biggest bully since kindergarten suddenly finds himself on the butt end of the kickings on the first day of High School.  Unthinkably he has to make a pact with a trio of his favorite geeks.  Will they survive the Bully Wars and rule the school?

INFINITE DARK (IMAGE/TOP COW) OCTOBER 2018
Ryan Cady is going to bring us a sci-fi horror series that explores what is perhaps the most redeeming quality of the human race ... our ability to endure.  Though this time we're enduring the end of the Universe.  The actual end, as in HEAT DEATH has happened.  What's left of the human race is in a ship that projects its own mini-reality to navigate the deepness of space in order to find a new universe to continue on in.  But hey, the cold deep of space, if we've learned anything, is not a fun place.  This manifests as a body is found amidst some arcane runes and ..... well we're off on a grisly ride!  Absolutely looking forward to this.

About LDCS

Just a guy collecting comics and putting his thoughts down on what he gets his hands on. Not even close to a professional critic or writer ... which probably makes me perfectly qualified to slap down an opinion
